PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic electroluminescent element of good emission characteristics, azepine base compound which is generally used for constructing azepine structure and allows construction of the azepine structure in a very short process, and to provide a manufacturing method thereof. SOLUTION: The organic electroluminescent element comprises at least a single layer of organic layer between a pair of electrodes. It contains at least one kind of compound represented by a general formula (1) in the organic layer. In the general formula (1), L<SP>11</SP>, L<SP>13</SP>, and L<SP>14</SP>represent individually o-alylene radical, o-hetero alylene radical, vinylene radical. L<SP>12</SP>represents o-alylene radical, o-hetero alylene radical, or vinylene radical, or ethylene radical.
