METHOD FOR PREPARING A HOLLOW ELEMENT OF A FUEL SYSTEM

The present invention relates to a method for preparing a hollow element of a fuel system comprising that a hollow element comprising a polymeric surface is subjected to an activation step and to a grafting step. In the grafting step, a fluorinated C₂-C₄ hydrocarbon is grafted onto the activated polymeric surface of the hollow element. The invention further relates to a hollow element obtainable by the method of the invention and to the use of a fluorinated C₂-C₄ hydrocarbon for reducing the permeability of products such as fuel tanks or a fuel pipes with respect to methanol and/or hydrocarbons.
