PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a toner which ensures rapid charge buildup, has good charging property, hardly causes surface stain, also has good fixability and does not cause filming, by allowing a substance added to control charging property to function effectively. SOLUTION: The toner is obtained through a surface treatment step of dispersing a toner for image formation containing at least a binder resin and a colorant in an aqueous medium and treating the toner surface with a fluorine-containing quaternary ammonium salt compound in the aqueous medium, wherein the toner composition has an acid number of 5-30.
