PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a membrane separator capable of stably filtering over a long period of time. SOLUTION: This membrane separator comprises membrane modules each constituted of a hollow fiber membrane bundle formed by bundling a large number of hollow fiber membranes, which modules have openings of the hollow fiber membranes at the top end thereof and a skirt structure part for gas introduction and gas introducing holes for introducing gas to the outer surfaces of the hollow fiber membranes at the bottom end thereof and are arranged vertically and a diffuser having jetting parts provided under the skirt structure part. The diffuser is constituted of a main pipe for the diffuser arranged in parallel to a water gathering pipe and communicating with an air supply means, branch pipes for the air diffuser vertically branched to the main pipe and a jetting section attached to the terminal parts of the branch pipes and having at least two jet orifices.
