PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a packet wireless communication system adopting the adaptive modulation system wherein the possibility of occurrence of data sequence mis-arrangement, an overflowed buffer, a packet loss or the like and of reduction in a packet data transfer efficiency can be precluded. SOLUTION: When a modulation system with a high multi-value number is switched into a modulation system with a lower multi-value number, the adaptive modulation system delays a switching timing 2 of the modulation systems with respect to a switching timing 1 of a data transfer processing switching switch SW 1 so as to provide a delay timeΔt to the switching timings thereby suppressing the reduction in the packet data transfer efficiency.
