<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a glass substrate for a magnetic disk, which is especially advantageous for manufacturing a magnetic disk for floating and flying a magnetic head at a low flying height of 10 nm or less, and to provide the magnetic disk using the glass substrate. <P>SOLUTION: There is provided a method of manufacturing the glass substrate for the magnetic disk, including a polishing step of polishing a main surface of the glass substrate by using a polishing liquid containing abrasive grain. The abrasive grain contains colloidal silica grain produced by hydrolizing an organosilicon compound. Preferably the abrasive grain contains colloidal silica grain and is neutral. Then the magnetic disk is obtained by forming at least a magnetic layer on the glass substrate manufactured by the method of manufacturing the glass substrate for the magnetic disk, as mentioned above. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
