PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a disk changer device to which a new disk is loaded for addition or a change and which can be reproduced without any troublesome operation or decision, and a disk management method. SOLUTION: When a new disk located near a disk loading slot is detected by a detection part 3, and disks are placed in all disk trays, a disk tray satisfying predetermined conditions is moved to discharge a disk. When the disks are not placed in all the disk trays, the disk trays having no disks placed therein are moved to disk placeable positions. Thus, only by bringing the new disk close to the disk loading slot, the disk tray is automatically prepared, and a user can load the new disk without any troublesome operation nor decision and reproduce contents recorded in the disk.
