PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an endoscope suitable for changing a luminance level per unit region when a region with a different luminance level by an amount more than a predetermined amount appears in an observation image. SOLUTION: Respective pixels of an imaging face in a CCD incorporated in this endoscope is divided into a plurality of pixel regions R1, R2 and R3 consisting of a plurality of pixels, and an amplification rate of an amplifier is so set as to be changed for every unit of the pixel regions R1, R2 and R3. This endoscope is preset to issue an amplification rate control signal by a selection by a selection switch, and be amplified at an amplification rate according to the shape of an observation site, so that an easy-observation image can be provided while suppressing the occurrence of the difference in the luminance level more than the predetermined amount.
