The portal drive, in particular to be used for a bus, is assembled of two sets of transmission units (17, 18) accommodated in a housing (3). The first unit is designed as a transfer box gearing (17) creating the displacement of the portal and part of the transmission. The second set is a planetary unit (18) increasing the gear ratio and positioned in front of the first unit (17). The transfer box gearing (17) comprises a drive wheel (1) and an output wheel (2), both connected to an axle shaft of the differential drive. The distance between the wheels (1, 2) is equal to the offset arrangement.
