<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten the time, before the temperature of a fixing roller reaches the temperature necessary for fixing after turning on the power source of an image forming apparatus, and to surely prevent temporary rise in the temperature inside the image forming apparatus, after the power source has been turned off. <P>SOLUTION: In the image forming apparatus, a power source 90 supplies electric power to a fixing device 60, the fixing device 60 is driven, and the cooling fan 72 of a cooling device 70 supplies waste heat of the fixing roller 61 to an electrothermal convertor 71 and is driven by electric power obtained from the converter 71. When a power source is turned on in the image forming apparatus, thermoelectromotive force is generated by the convertor 71, when the fixing roller 61 is risen to a certain temperature. When the power source is turned off, the electromotive force of the converter 71 disappears, when the fixing roller 61 is lowered to a certain temperature. Furthermore, a delay circuit 73 is provided between the convertor 71 and the cooling fan 72, electric power is supplied to the cooling fan 72, being delayed from the time for generation of thermal electromotive force, and supply of the electric power to the cooling fan 72 is stopped, being delayed from the time of the disappearance of the thermoelectromotive force. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
