<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air cleaner eliminating an ultraviolet light source and simplifying the structure. <P>SOLUTION: This air cleaner 1 is provided with a corrugated laminated body 30 having pigments fixed on its surface and allowing the passing of air and a visible light is emitted from a fluorescent tube 50 to the corrugated laminated body 30. The oxygen in the air passing through the corrugated laminated body 30 is formed into the singlet oxygen by pigments absorbing the visible light and converted into a triplet excited state, and pollutant molecules in the air are oxidatively decomposed by the singlet oxygen. This constitution can clean the air by using the visible light without any need of the ultraviolet light source.
