MAGNETIC RECORDING ELEMENT AND MAGNETIC RECORDING APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic recording element for reducing an inverting current for magnetic inversion by direct drive with current.

SOLUTION: The magnetic recording element includes layers which can be varied in the magnetizing direction to store information in accordance with the magnetizing direction by implanting the spin-polarential electrons to change the magnetizing direction in accordance with the direction of flow of spin-polarential electrons. The magnetic recording element includes free layer FF which changes the magnetizing direction in accordance with operations of spin-polarized electrons and includes the spin polarizing coefficient Pf. A fixed layer FP is fixed in the magnetizing direction and also includes the spin polarizing coefficient Pp larger than the spin polarizing coefficient Pf. An intermediate layer S is provided between the fixed layer and free layer and is formed substantially of a non-magnetic material.
