PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the accuracy of an image processing carried out to an image reading an original. SOLUTION: The candidates of a plurality of the angles of inclinations are obtained on the basis of feature quantities such as the edge informations (boundary informations among the original and regions excepting the original) of the original, ruled-line informations, character-row informations or the like in a skew correction processing. The candidates of the obtained angles of inclinations are presented to a user by displaying the candidates on a display device at the intermediate stage of the skew correction processing. The user selects a desired candidate from a plurality of the selecting candidates displayed on the display device. An image processor receives the selection of the user. An element (the angle of inclination) as the reference of the processing is determined on the basis of the selection (a specification) of the received user, and the skew correction processing to the image is continued. When the candidates of a plurality of the angles of inclinations obtained in the process of the processing are presented to the user, the candidates are displayed by using expressions easy to recognize the candidates by the user such as the angles of inclinations, arrows, segments or the like.
