PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for driving a steel pipe sheet pile, which enables the steel pipe sheet pile to be smoothly driven into ground by preventing the mixing of gravel into a joint. SOLUTION: A mud prevention implement 9, the main body of which is an infilled steel pipe 13, is installed in the joint 5 with an inside space, which is provided in the axial direction of the steel pipe 3 of the steel pipe sheet pile 1. After that, the pile 1 is driven into the ground 7 in a state wherein the implement 9 is installed in the joint 5, and the implement 9 is pulled out. Work for driving the pile 1, which is to be driven later, into the ground 7 is repeated, while the joint 5 of the pre-driven pile 1 is engaged with the joint 5 of the pile 1 driven adjacently to the pre-driven joint 5 after the driving of the pre-driven joint 5. In the driving of the pile 1 to be driven later, the implement 9 is installed in the joint 5 which is not engaged with the joint 5 of the pre-driven steel pipe sheet pile.
