<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make speed variation small without reference to speed variation characteristics of an image carrier used for image formation by an electrophotographic process. <P>SOLUTION: Based on a driving motor 34 as a driving source generating a driving force for driving and rotating a photoreceptor 7 as an image carrier, a coupling shaft 36 as a transmission member transmitting the driving force from the driving motor 34 to the photoreceptor 7 to rotate, and previously found rotating speed variation information of the coupling shaft 36 speed variation of the coupling shaft 36 is suppressed by adjusting the rotating speed of the coupling shaft 36 to cancel the rotating speed variation of the coupling shaft 36.
