<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an image forming apparatus that can reduce color shift caused by eccentricity of drum gears. <P>SOLUTION: The apparatus includes a transfer belt 11, a first image carrier drum 7 and a second image carrier drum 9, a first image carrier drum gear 3, a second image carrier drum gear 5, a motor gear 13, and an idle gear 15 for transmitting drive from the first image carrier drum gear 3 to the second image carrier drum gear 5. The value of a shaft distance L between the rotating shaft of the first image carrier drum gear 3 and the rotating shaft of the second image carrier drum gear 5 is different from the value obtained by performing integral n-multiplication of a drum peripheral length πD. A ratio E2/E1 between an eccentric amplitude E1 of a pitch circle in the first image carrier drum gear 3 and an eccentric amplitude E2 of pitch circle in the second image carrier drum gear 5 is properly selected depending on the shaft distance L between the rotating shaft of the first image carrier drum gear and the rotating shaft of the second image carrier drum gear, the drum peripheral length πD, and the design value of a rotary drive system when assembled into the image forming apparatus. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
