PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inspection method, a manufacturing method or the like of a steel sheet by which a countermeasure to the defects of the steel sheet can easily be taken and a response to the defects of the sheet can be made in an early stage when the hot-rolled steel sheet is manufactured.

SOLUTION: A ultrasonic flaw detecting apparatus 20 is provided on the inlet side of a pickling tank 8 in a pickling stage after hot rolling and flaw detection is continuously carried out about the defects of the hot-rolled steel sheet in conveyance. On the basis of flaw detection information by the flaw detection, process conditions such as casting conditions on the upstream side of the flaw detecting position are corrected.
