PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a skin detail circuit and a method thereof for acquiring a stable resolution by correcting the degree of skin detail so as to interlock with a zoom position depending on a lens to be used, so that a flesh color portion may not be blurred even when the zoom position is in a WIDE side. SOLUTION: An optical signal acquired through a zoom lens 1 and a prism 2 is subjected to photoelectric conversion by an R-CCD 3, a G-CCD 4 and a B-CCD 5, thereby generating an image pickup signal. A flesh color component extracting circuit extracts a flesh color component from the image pickup signal processed by image signal processing circuits 6, 7, 8. A lens control circuit 11 outputs a signal corresponding to the zoom position of the zoom lens 1. A SKIN DTL gain control circuit 12 controls a gain of a contour emphasis signal on the basis of the signal corresponding to the zoom position.
