PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a heat developable sensitive material having improved raw stock preservability and image preservability, and to provide an image forming method. SOLUTION: In the heat developable sensitive material having an image forming layer containing at least a photosensitive silver halide, a non-photosensitive organic silver salt, a reducing agent and a binder at least on one surface of a support, the total amount of silver to be applied is≤1.4 g/m<SP>2</SP>and≥0.5 g/m<SP>2</SP>, the non-photosensitive organic silver salt is a fatty acid silver salt prepared from a fatty acid containing≥50 mol% and≤98 mol% behenic acid as a raw material and the content of other fatty acid salt except for the silver salt and a free fatty acid to the fatty acid silver salt in the fatty acid silver fine particle is≤7.0 mol% and≥1.0 mol%.
