PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent visible light exciting an infrared stimulable phosphore from reaching a domain of an infrared detection part where the infrared stimulable phosphore generates the visible light by being irradiated with infrared light from an optical fiber cable. SOLUTION: A hand case type infrared detector is constituted of an infrared detection part having a rotationally-movable truncated cone-shaped member 4A and the infrared stimulable phosphore 5 provided on its surface, a light source 2 for excitation for irradiating the infrared stimulable phosphore 5 with excitation light of the visible light on the first position, an optical fiber storage part 3 for irradiating the infrared stimulable phosphore 5 with the infrared light from the optical fiber cable on the second position, and a hand case 1 for storing them. The visible light generated from the infrared stimulable phosphore 5 by irradiation of the infrared light from the optical fiber cable is observed visually from an observation window of the hand case 1.
