<p>The invention relates to a cover for electric storage battery. According to the invention, the cover has some inlet channels (h1...h6) where the gas-liquid flow emerging from the cells enters through twelve orifices (r1, r1', ..., r6, r6') located at the base of the inlet channels (h1...h6) asymmetrically in relation to some upper central slots (s1...s6) thereby imparting an expansion whirling path to six separation chambers (e1...e6) which are wedge-type prism-shaped and have a cross-section normal to the median longitudinal axis of the battery in the shape of a right trapeze with the small base towards the closest outer long side of the battery, the distance between the two bases of the trapeze ensuring a maximal expansion volume at the inlet of the gas-liquid mixture, in the close vicinity of the upper central slots (s1...s6) followed by a progressive compression along the non-parallel side of the trapeze, the flow of so separated gases reaching finally the peripheral separation chambers (e1...e6) through some communication slots (t1 and t2, and t3 and t4, respectively), the gas flow being led, through two connecting channels (g1 and g2), to some supplementary chambers (f1 and f2), starting from the free surface of the electrolyte in the cells, up to the discharging thereof by some porous tablets, the flow of separated gases changing the forward moving direction in order to prevent the entering of the flame (E1 and E2), while the separated liquid comes back to the battery cells due to the counter-current drainage achieved along the entire separation path.</p> |
