<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of allowing a user to recognize the image forming apparatus to be operated, and an image forming system. <P>SOLUTION: A copier 3A is connected to a network 10 through an NIC 17A. The NIC 17A selectively receives a signal addressed to the copier 3A in the signals running on the network 10. When the signal to the copier 3A is input to the NIC 17A, a CPU 13A allows a audio output section 18A to output a sound. The sound output from the audio output section 18A indicates that the copier 3A becomes one to be operated.
