<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for removing sludge in a pipe in which flowing water is drained from a water distribution pipe for city water, industrial water or the like, sludge contained in flowing water is removed, and separated water is returned to the water distribution pipe. <P>SOLUTION: This device is constituted so that a piping unit (9) is attachably/detachably connected to a fire hydrant (8) attached to a water distribution pipe (1), a connection port (11) of a fire-fighting hose (10), a connection port (12) of extraction flow into a circulation pipe (7), and a discharge pipe (15) supported by a connection port (14) of the return flow of the piping unit (9) are provided on the piping unit (9) in a suspended manner from the fire hydrant (8), and the discharge pipe (15) is opened (15a) in a vicinity of an upper wall of the water distribution pipe (1). The high-speed return flow reaches a pipe bottom, allows sludge to be afloat/fluidized, and to flow into the circulation pipe (7) by the extraction flow, resulting in separation of sludge from flowing water. The sprayed return flow becomes orthogonal to the water flow of the water distribution pipe (1) in a curtain shape to prevent flow-out of the sludge downstream.
