PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a canister for surely adsorbing evaporating fuel flowing therein to suppress the blow thereof through atmospheric air while minimizing the diffusion into adsorbing material layers of the canister. SOLUTION: The canister comprises the adsorbing material layer divided into two adsorbing material layers of a first layer 7 and a second layer 8 with a partition wall, which are arranged in series. The adsorbing material layer of the second layer 8 is divided in two with a filter or a plate 4c. In the divided adsorbing material layer 8b of the second layer 8 on the side of an atmospheric air port 2h, activated coal B is filled which is characterized in that the remaining amount of evaporating fuel after purged is less than that in the adsorbing material layer of the first layer 7.
