PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To appropriately perform alternate processing by discriminating the necessity of the alternate processing for a read error with high accuracy. SOLUTION: When there is a response of a read error from disk drive 30 in response to read access, a disk controller 10 registers information showing an error occurrence place on a disk where the read error occurs in an error occurrence place storing part 15a. At the time of disk patrol, the disk controller 10 tries to get read access to the error occurrence place several times to check whether the read error is repeated several times on the basis of the information showing the error occurrence place stored in the error occurrence place storing part 15a.
