<p>The core (7) is contained in elastic material, with a sealing lip (12) running against one of the bearing races (1,2). The lip bears against the race surface in the radial direction, and has a vertical portion (11) and one inclined to the bearing axis. The roughness of the sealing surface is between 1S and 6S. The lip can have an endface at right angles to the bearing axis, also an inner face inclined to the endface, an annular notch being formed between the two. One contact surface of the lip can be of truncated-cone section, open towards the bearing interior before installation. When installed, this face is either parallel to the sealing face on the inner race, or diverges slightly from it towards the bearing interior.</p> |
