PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power output device capable of being easily mounted in an automobile and constructed in a small size and provide the automobile equipped with it. SOLUTION: The rotary shaft 45 of a motor 42 and the axle of rear wheels 26a and 26b as a drive shaft to output the power through a differential gear 68 are embodied on the same rotational axis 41, and the motor 42, the differential gear 68, and a transmission 50 are installed in such an arrangement that the rotation center of a sun gear 52 as the input shaft of the transmission 50, a rotational axis 48 as the center of a carrier 55 rotating as the output shaft of the transmission 50, and the above mentioned rotational axis 41 are positioned horizontal and parallel with one another and are mounted in the automobile in such a manner that the rotational axes 41 and 48 are positioned parallel to the automobile floor and perpendicularly intersecting the automobile advancing direction. Thereby the length in the axial direction of the power output device can be lessened and the size (height) of the device 40 relative to the plumb direction of the automobile be lessened, which enables taking large spaces for the cabin and luggage compartment.
