PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lightning surge protection method suitable as thunder damage measures against lightning surge escaped in a power line neutral conductor. SOLUTION: Ground resistances provided in power equipment for power companies, a communication companies, and general power consumers are measured individually. Lightning surge shunt currents in which lightning surge currents flowing out of a thunder stroke point flow into the power equipment of the power companies, communication companies, and the general power consumers are calculated based on the respective ground resistances. The respective ground resistances are adjusted so that the lightning surge shunt currents may be balanced among the power companies, communication companies and the general power consumers based on the calculated shunt currents, thus controlling the lightning surge shunt currents.
