<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a high quality printout by enabling an appropriate edit of a form in carrying out merging. <P>SOLUTION: When merging is selected, a print server extracts a text object on a form and a text object on a merged document, compares the fonts and colors thereof and, if they are different, outputs form edit information and output text object edit information to a client PC (Step 100 to 110). When an edit instruction such as a font or color change is input according to the edit information, the text object on the form is converted according to the input edit instruction and the converted form is used for merging printing (Step 112 to 122).
