PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To decrease the number of the devices required to assist coating work by solving such a problem that three devices are required to assist coating work when one coating roller is used. SOLUTION: When uniformizing work is done, the coating roller 30 is brought into contact with a squeezing roller 13 in such a state that the coating roller 30 and the squeezing roller 13 are not in contact with water W. When washing work is done, the coating roller 30 is brought into contact with the squeezing roller 13 while supplying washing water to the coating roller 30. When moistening work is done, the coating roller 30 is immersed in water. Since all of a storage tank 12, the squeezing roller 13, a liquid supplying means 23, a draining means 24 and a washing water supplying means 36 of this device for assisting coating work are required when any of the uniformizing work, the washing work and the moistening work is done, every coating work can be done by this device for assisting coating work.
