The pneumatic support system for a paper web (2) moving from an inlet (ER) to an outlet (AR) comprises a hollow section of a cylinder which encloses an air supply (4). It has a base made up of two sections (16, 17) at an angle to each other and two end walls (7). The roof of the cylinder consists of a perforated metal sheet. The perforations have a diameter of 0.2 - 10.0 mm2> and they make up 0.2 - 15% of the total area of the sheet.
