A semiconductor radiation detection crystal (72) converts incident radiation or an incident particle into an electrical signal. A first substrate (74) for conveying the electrical signal to processing electronics (77) is bonded to the crystal (72) via an anisotropic conductive material (10) sandwiched therebetween. The crystal (72) can include an array of pixels (73) which are positioned in opposition with an array of conductive pads (75) formed on the first substrate (74). The anisotropic conductive material (10) forms between each pixel (73) and its corresponding conductive pad (75) an electrical path, with each electrical path isolated from other electrical paths.
