The reclining system for the back rest of a car seat comprises a mounting (2) attached to the seat and a second mounting (3) attached to the back rest. These fit on to a hub (15), on which an eccentric plate with flanges (16) also fits. The mountings are held on the hub by a locking ring (20) with stepped teeth (24, 25) which lock on to corresponding teeth (22, 23) on the hub.
