A method for use in a portal, of end-to-end secure data transmission comprising the steps of: (a) receiving a data request and a public certificate from a user; (b) transmitting the data request and the public certificate to a content supplier; (c) receiving a data transmission from the content supplier, wherein the data transmission comprises confidential and/or non-confidential data, the confidential data being received in encrypted form together with an identifying means and the non-confidential data being received in unencrypted form; (d) formatting the non-confidential data in accordance with a specification provided by the user; and (e) transmitting the encrypted confidential data, the identifying means and the formatted non-confidential data to the user.
