The electrode has a work area geometry that corresponds to the geometry of a workpiece. The flow of electrolyte is formed by artificial openings created in the electrode or the electrode surface. The porosity distribution and the arrangement of the openings are selected such that uniform electrolyte flow and electrolyte change are ensured at the electrode surface at the work area of the electrode. Independent claims are also included for the following: (A) a method for electrochemical processing of a workpiece (B) the use of an electrode.
