<p>The uses is claimed of: (i) aerogels (AG) for adsorption from a liquid phase; (ii) hydrophilic or hydrophobic AG as adsorbents; and (iii) adsorbents containing AG (not as a mixture with activated carbon or active alumina) for adsorption from a gas phase. Also claimed are: (a) corresponding purification methods, involving contacting (i') liquids, (ii') gases or liquids or (iii') gases to be purified with adsorbents as in (i), (ii) or (iii) respectively, for adsorption of impurities; and (b) a method for isolating organic compounds (I) from (preferably aqueous) liquids, by contacting the liquids with AG as adsorbent for sufficient time to adsorb (I), separating AG from the liquid and separating (I) from AG.</p> |
