A method of imaging a scene comprises providing relative motion between an imaging sensor array (1) and the scene. The scene is imaged at two or more discrete frequencies in the microwave frequency range; microwave energy from the scene at each discrete frequency is received and the imaging and receiving steps are repeated over a series of time periods. An image of the scene at each frequency is created from the received energy and the images at each frequency are compared with one another to discern anomalies such as contraband hidden on a lorry which is being driven past the sensor. The system may be passive, or multi-frequency microwaves may be transmitted at the scene. In one embodiment, images are created bistatically, monostatically and passively in sequence. |
