摘要 <p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image generating method enabling a number of 3D and 2D characters to exist in combination without a sense of mismatch. SOLUTION: Up to 50 characters within 50 m from a virtual camera are determined as 3D characters, while characters 50 m or more away from the virtual camera or beyond the fiftieth character are determined as 2D characters. For the character determined to be a 3D one, a 3D character is drawn in a character position on a 3D virtual space according to a relative angle between a direction connecting the position of the character to the position of the virtual camera and the forward direction of the character. For the character determined to be a 2D one, the two 2D sprites closest to the horizontal component of the relative angle are selected from among 2D sprites in all azimuths 16 prepared according to the rendered image of 3D polygon data; the two 2D sprites selected are combined into the width of the character as seen from the relative angle. The 2D sprites combined are subjected to shear deformation according to the vertical component of the relative angle to plot the 2D character.</p>
