A liquid crystal display device 10 where a first liquid crystal display panel 15 is disposed on one side of a light guiding plate 11 that leads out light severally to both of the front and rear sides of the light guiding plate, a smaller second liquid crystal display panel 30 disposed on the other side of the light guiding plate, and the panels and the light guiding plate are stacked, in which a reinforcing frame 25 comprising a thin plate, which is substantially of the same size as the light guiding plate 11 and has an opening 26 substantially as large as the display surface of the second liquid crystal display panel 30, is laid between the light guiding plate 11 and the second liquid crystal display panel 30, the frame being covered by a cover 40 having an opening 42 corresponding to the display surface of the second liquid crystal display panel 30, such that the reinforcing frame 25 and the cover 40 sandwich and fix the second liquid crystal display panel 30. Consequently, a liquid crystal display device is provided with a slimmer structure while retaining a predetermined mechanical strength and assembly thereof is simplified. |
