<p>1476258 Surgical drapes JOHNSON & JOHNSON 1 Aug 1974 [2 Aug 1973] 33994/74 Heading A5R A surgical drape for use with an operating table having laterally extending armbands, comprises: an elongated body portion 14; and a transverse cross-arm portion 15, the bottom edge of the cross-arm portion 15 being integral with the top end of the body portion 14; and an armboard flap or flaps 18 extending along, and integral with, the bottom edge of the cross-arm portion 15, each flap 18 extending from a side of said cross-arm portion 15 to a point overlying said body portion. The drape has a pair of rectangular body flaps 17 extending along and integral with all, or part, of a respective side edge of said body portion 14, but detached from the cross-arm and armboard flap portions. Various forms of construction are disclosed Figs. 7-10 (not shown), all giving the same overall configuration of drape. The drape is provided with a fenestration opening 20. The fenestration opening 20 has a reinforcing, fluid-absorbent, panel 21 disposed about it on the side of the sheet away from the patient's skin. A non-slip instrument pad is provided on said panel 21 and tube attachment tabs 25 provided about said fenestration opening 20. In one embodiment, Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown), flaps along sides of the fenstration opening are provided with strips of pressure sensitive adhesive having cover sheets such that the fenestration opening may be placed in position on the patient, the cover sheets removed and the flaps folded over to secure the drape to the patient.
