A process for producing a cycloolefin resin film or sheet, characterized by introducing into a vented extruder a cycloolefin resin solution comprising 20 to 80 wt.% cycloolefin resin and a solvent, removing the volatiles from the cycloolefin resin solution in the extruder, and molding the resin into a film or sheet form by melt extrusion through a die. By the process, a cycloolefin film or sheet from which the solvent has been sufficiently removed and which retains stable properties can be produced by a simple procedure. Also provided are: a process for producing a cycloolefin polymer film or sheet inhibited from suffering quality deterioration caused by heat history; and an economical process for producing a cycloolefin polymer film or sheet in which a simplified apparatus is used and heat energy saving is attained.
