The invention relates to a device for determining at least one parameter of a medium that flows in a pipe in a main direction of flow. Said device comprises a piece that can be introduced into the pipe in a defined orientation relative to the main direction of flow in such a manner that a partial flow of the medium flowing in said pipe reaches an inlet area in a channel structure that internal combustion engine configured in the piece. A measuring channel branches off from said inlet area and is provided with a measuring element for determining the at least one parameter. The inlet area comprises an outlet zone having at least one outlet opening, which zone is separate from the measuring channel.
