PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sash window permitting to add various kinds of a functional unit without increasing the production cost and also permitting to replace or renew the functional unit. SOLUTION: A fixed window 10 is built in a lower rectangular zone 5B partitioned by a transom 6 within a window frame 5, and a functional surfacing material 20 is installed to an upper rectangular zone 5A, thereby permitting to add the ventilating function of a ventilating fan unit 22 provided by the functional surfacing unit 20 to an outward vertically projecting window 1. Also, the ventilating fan unit 22 can be installed to the window frame 5 in a state attached to the functional surfacing material 20 and, therefore, any specially shaped window upper rail, lower rail, or styles are not required and thus permitting to use a general purpose window frame thereby preventing any increase in the production cost. In addition, the existing ventilating fan unit 22 can be easily replaced or renewed only by removing the functional surfacing material from the window frame 5 and installing the functional surfacing material 20 having a new ventilating fan unit 22.
