PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plasma display apparatus and a driving method for lowering the drive voltage applied to a scan electrode. SOLUTION: The plasma display apparatus comprises a plasma display panel including scan electrodes and sustain electrodes, a 1st ramp pulse applying section which applies a 1st ramp-up pulse to the scan electrodes, a voltage applying section which applies a 1st negative voltage to the sustain electrodes, while the 1st ramp-up pulse is applied to the scan electrodes; and a 2nd ramp pulse applying section which applies a 2nd ramp-up pulse to the sustain electrodes after the 1st negative voltage is applied.
