PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device that suppresses low the heat generation of light emitting elements and a drive part driving the light emitting elements due to solar heat, and also to provide a display control method. SOLUTION: A duty ratio as the illumination period of a display part 4 is adjusted according to the degree of direct incidence of the sunshine and the present time to be small in the daytime of fine weather when the outside temperature rises in the case where a display surface is installed facing the sunshine in the daytime. Consequently, the heat generation of the elements of a display part and the drive part 14 is suppressed within a certain range and thus breakage and decreases in life of components are minimized to prolong the service life of a product, thereby improving the reliability.
