PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance a working efficiency simplifying an operation process at the time of positioning by making it possible to press an engaging member or a member to be engaged despite omitting an auxiliary press for a hook and by making it possible to position the engaging members or the members to be engaged of a plurality of sizes without changing a holding member. SOLUTION: The positioning guiding device of a sewing machine has a pair of side guides horizontally moving on a sewing machine bed between an abutting position abutting both side faces of the engaging member and the member to be engaged and an evacuating position being isolating from the abutting position. The side guides have a stopper abutting the distal end face of the engaging member or the member to be engaged sandwiched by the pair of side guides when the engaging member or the member to be engaged is put into and mounted between the pair of side guides present in the abutting position along the sewing machine head, and a floating up preventing portion preventing the member to be engaged from floating up abutting on the upper surface of the member to be engaged sandwiched by the pair of side guides.
