PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that the precision of determining of a detergent deteriorates due to deterioration of forming causing from stain of dishware in a dishwasher with the function of determining a kind of the detergent according to a detected result obtained by detecting a foaming amount using an optical sensor. SOLUTION: The rotation of a pump motor is controlled such that water jetted from a jet hole 7 is weakly jetted to such an extent that it does not splash the dishwasher in accelerating foaming by driving the pump motor of a pump 12 for both washing and draining with washing water to a predetermined level stored in the bottom portion of a washing tub 2 in washing determining process before starting washing operation. Thus, the washing water is not mixed with the stain of the dishware, the longitudinal level of foamability of the detergent is precisely reflected on the foaming amount of the washing water in the washing tub 2.
