PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve workability in receiving a button by a button holder. SOLUTION: The buttoning sewing machine 1 has a needle rod driving means 14, a button holding means 10, a button supplying means 110, moving means 31, 42, a raising and lowering means 51, and an action control means 100 performing move control sewing and fixing a button B to a cloth by inserting a sewing needle 5 into a thread inserting hole of the button B held by the button holding means 10 in series by means of the needle rod driving means 14, the moving means 31, 42, and the raising and lowering means 51. The machine further has a receive position set means 103 setting a receive position where the button B supplied to the supplying position by the button supplying means 110 is received by the button holding means 10, the action control means 100 drives the moving means 31, 42 and the raising and lowering means 51 such that the button holding means 10 receives the button B at the button receive position.
