In one aspect of this invention, there is provided a process for producing a microchannel plate, comprising a first step of bundling a plurality of fibers to prepare a multifiber having a polygonal section, a second step of preparing a base material for a microchannel plate using a plurality of multifibers, and a third step of preparing a microchannel plate from the base material for a microchannel plate. The plurality of fibers comprise first fibers each comprising an outer peripheral part formed of a glass material comprising predetermined components and having a predetermined thickness surrounding a central part including a core, and second fibers each comprising both a central part including a core and an outer peripheral part, surrounding the central part, having a predetermined thickness each formed of the above glass material comprising predetermined components. The second fiber is disposed at at least one corner part in the polygonal section of the multifiber. |
