The coil compression spring (2) is designed so its line of force runs offset from the center line of the shock absorber and to compensate at least in part for transverse forces acting on the absorber, the spring (2) center line when out of load performs an S-curve. The force introduced into the steering is reduced and thus the reaction forces produced by the difference between the spring force compensate on the left and right hand sides of the vehicle in the line of travel when the spring center line forms a C curve off load.
